Gray Side Tables

These two tables in sapele mahogany, are excellent examples of Sweet’s Neo-Modernist design, and work that he refers to as among his “signature” pieces.

The door on the left box and the walls of the right one are hollow volumes. Each tilt off vertical, but are brought back to horizontal top surfaces by a rotated transitional element. They incorporate both alternating and sometimes intersecting  flat and bent planes. Another design element is seen in the shifting “frame and panel” veneer patterns on the tops.
